PRESS RELEASE:
The second race of the Alpe Adria Cup was held on one of the hottest weekends of this year in Maribor, Slovenia. After the perfect start of the race series in Croatia (June), 60 riders from all over Europe fought for victory on the river called Drau.
This weekend all 9 stand up classes were full of competitors and even 8 women fought for the first three places on the podium. Only the Runabout riders had a more relaxed weekend - despite they showed some nerve racking duels.
The Slovenian brothers Rok Florjancic
and Nac Florjancic
took the audience breath away by landing amazing tricks and combos that had never been done before. With 15 backflips in a row, Rok could not only decide the class for him but could also get the loudest applause of the weekend.
The nine times world champion, Kevin Reiterer
could win all three Pro Classes, but the newcomer Lukas Binar from Czech Republic didn't make it easy for him. We can look forward to some pretty sweet fights between these two riders in the upcoming races!
For the first time in AAC's history, a French Team - "Perez Competition"- competed at the race. Marta Sorrentino
, Jeremy Perez
and Raphaël Maurin even gain home 4 trophies!
For the AAC it is good to see, that it pays off having a professional race series for newcomers, because some new carrier might get started here. This weekend, the young Czech Terezie Prochazkova
and Tomas Havlin gave proof of it. For them it is natural to compete at European Championship races and even World Finals.
But you could also see at the 61 year old Josef Duh that the AAC also attracts elderly people. Even the 16 men of the gentleman class didn't show signs of fatique. The Italians, Giuseppe Dona and Sandro Cau could win first and second place just one step ahead of Jozef Bohuslav
.
Markus Lutsokert crashed and unfortunately cracked his kneecap. We wish him all the best and a soon comeback to racing jetskis!
The racers of the AAC deserved a break after this wonderful race weekend and we will see us soon on the 11-12 August in Jedovnice (CZ). In the middle of July we will surely see some of the riders of the AAC by the second stop of the European tour in Portugal, Mirandela.
